| Cleveland Beats Toronto, 4-1 | Cleveland Grays starter John Worden pitched a strong game against the Toronto Beavers at Euclid Avenue Park, leading the Grays to victory, 4-1. Worden got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 10 hits and walked 2 over 8.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Cleveland goes to 2-1.
Bob Albertson had a big 2-run triple for the Grays in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Cleveland leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from Stu Witt, who finished 4th in the UL in innings pitched with 326.0 in 1913, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Grays ahead, 4-1.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Grays manager Will Jackson. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
