| Anderson Dominates Pioneers in 1-0 Shutout | The St. Louis Pioneers had no answer for Detroit Dynamos pitcher Paul Anderson. They failed to score a single run against him, losing, 1-0. St. Louis managed only 6 hits off Anderson, who had 10 strikeouts.
The extraordinarily popular Anderson got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.
"Dynamos fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances, but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
In the current season in 10 starts, Paul Anderson has a record of 6-1 with 48 strikeouts in 69.2 innings and a 2.45 ERA. | |
