Big Day for Bancroft: Swats 5 Hits
A jubilant Roy Bancroft joined the postgame press conference at Bigsby Oval II to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Brooklyn Kings pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the New York Gothams first baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 15-3 Gothams win.

"He made it look easy," said Fred Lorraine, manager of the Kings. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Roy Bancroft singled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

So far this season, Bancroft is hitting .355 with 14 home runs.
