Chicago registered a win at Whitney Park by beating the New York Gothams, 5-3. Pitcher Paul Magee was one reason why the Chiefs triumphed. Magee, who finished 4th in the FA in saves with 16 in 1960, went the distance for Chicago. He gave up 3 runs on 10 hits. The Chiefs now own a record of 27-22.

Chicago took the lead, 5-3, on Bob Gellatly's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off New York pitcher Chet Stansbury in the bottom of the seventh.

"When you have a good rhythm and good flow, it's nice to just go out there and pound the strike zone with confidence," said Magee.
