| Toronto Falters Again, Loses, 5-0, to New York | Ray Cox, who is tied for 3rd in the UL in wins with 12, never let the Beavers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his changeup, to pitch the Stars to a win, 5-0. The winner was Cox. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Amos Brantley. The first-place Stars, at 53-41, now lead their division by 2 games.
The Stars had to work out of trouble in the top of the eighth. The score was 3-0, New York, with one out. Toronto, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, was mounting a threat. Jim Bouldin dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch sinker, he popped out.
