Cannons Lose Late, 6-4 | The Toronto Wolves had to overcome a big game from Cincinnati first baseman Mark Boyd to leave Tice Memorial Stadium II with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-4. Boyd went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Lee Loeffler, who finished 5th in the FA in saves with 13 in 1958, nailed down the save. The setback makes the Cannons 9-14.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 24-year old third baseman Clyde Fisher. Fisher had a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Wolves ahead, 6-4. For the game, Fisher had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Toronto manager Randy Hohlt said his team played a "no nonsense" game. | |
