| New York Bats Go Silent in 3-0 Loss | Right-hander Tony Bellomo mesmerized the New York Gothams while leading the Montreal Saints to a 3-0 victory. The winner was Bellomo. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Charles Heim. Montreal is now 50-45, while New York is 50-41.
Ed Carpenter had a big run-scoring double for the Saints in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a slider from Charles Heim, who finished 4th in the FL in innings pitched with 389.1 in 1905, and swatted a double to left. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Saints ahead, 2-0.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said New York manager Bob Kuhl. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
