The Chicago Cougars and Cincinnati Cannons put on a pitchers' duel.

The Chicago Cougars used a great performance from Pug White, who finished 2nd in the CA in ERA with 2.43 in 1966, to beat the Cincinnati Cannons, 2-0, at Cougars Park. Jim Norris picked up the save, his 4th.

Fuzzy Cronin, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1969 draft, took Cincinnati hurler Milo Kennedy deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Cougars on top, 2-0. In all, Cronin had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Cincinnati manager Charlie Britton.

The loss has the Cannons at 10-8.
