| Kings Need Extra Innings to Top Chiefs, 5-3 | The Brooklyn Kings topped the Chicago Chiefs, 5-3, in 12 innings at Whitney Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Brooklyn pitcher Marty Keegan. Johnny Canipe claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record stands at 3-3. Brooklyn is 42-48 and Chicago, with the loss, 49-46.
Brooklyn used the timely hitting of Ike Burton to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Kings on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Burton attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
