| Easton Silences Chicago, 9-0 | The Chicago Chiefs were almost helpless in their 9-0 loss to the Washington Eagles and hurler Bob Easton. Easton kept the Chiefs confused all game, spinning a 2-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Easton," Chicago manager Willie Cadden said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 29-year-old right-hander had 4 walks and 3 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Easton said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
Easton has posted a 8-13 record for the year with a 2.35 ERA. Teams are hitting .235 against him and he has rung up 58 strikeouts in 184 innings. | | | | | |
