| Poole Delivers Walk-Off Win for Imperials | The New York Imperials eked out a 2-1 win versus the Kansas City Mavericks at Dyckman Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Howie Weston. He was terrific. Ed Cooper picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-2. Charlie Wolf was tagged with the loss. New York sits at 11-8 in the early going.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 26-year old second baseman Jake Poole had a chance to be the hero. Kansas City pitcher Charlie Wolf had other ideas. But with one out, Poole hit a sacrifice fly. The Imperials had themselves a dramatic win.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Jim Abernathy, the New York manager.
