Hicks Gives Chicago Goose Eggs
The Chicago Blues were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Boston Beacons and hurler John Hicks. Hicks kept the Blues confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Hicks," Chicago manager Mike Dermer said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 22-year-old right-hander had no walks and 5 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Hicks said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

Thus far this season, Hicks has worked 66.1 innings with 31 strikeouts en route to a 3-6 record and a 4.61 ERA.
