| Lancers Walk It Off for 41st Win of Season | Cleveland got a terrific performance from pitcher John Grunder, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Lancers. Detroit won the Thompson Field contest, 4-3. Grunder threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Frank Aldrich, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The 5th-place Lancers have won 5 consecutive games.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jim Klobas in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Martin Raulerson to win the game for Detroit. The home crowd went nuts.
"This place was electric at the end," Klobas said. | | | | | |
