| Monarchs Win, 5-3, Versus Washington | Thanks in large part to pitcher Roger Rainville, the Cincinnati Monarchs beat the Washington Eagles, 5-3. Rainville threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball. With the win, Cincinnati pushed its record to 50-39.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Ray Theobold was at the plate when Cincinnati scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Monarchs to go in front, 4-3.
"We take it day by day here," said Theobold, "and today was a good one for us."
