| Eagles Fall Short, 5-4, at Cincinnati | The Cincinnati Monarchs picked up a win at Vine Street Base Ball Grounds, taking down the Washington Eagles, 5-4. Starting pitcher Orval Harrison was a big reason why. Earl Plude, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities. The loss makes Washington 32-51.
Bris Drennan had a big run-scoring double for the Monarchs in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Cincinnati leading 4-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Bert Behrendt, who finished 4th in the FL in ERA with 2.11 in 1911, and swatted a double to right. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Monarchs ahead, 5-1.
Said Washington manager Tom Moran: "They just got the better of us."
