| Philadelphia Blanked by Kelley | The St. Louis Pioneers did little to support starter Jeff Kelley against the Philadelphia Keystones, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Keystones, striking out 1 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Kelley allowed St. Louis to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said, 'Jeff, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Kelley told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
In 22 starts this year, Kelley has posted 7 wins while suffering 10 losses. He has pitched 164.2 innings, allowed 164 hits, struck out 73 and has a 2.08 ERA. | | | | | |
