| Copperheads Suffer 4-1 Home Defeat | New York and Atlanta duked it out and the Gothams came out victorious.
New York Gothams starter Joe Nelson turned in an exceptional performance against the Atlanta Copperheads at Peachtree Stadium, resulting in a New York win, 4-1. In 8 innings, Nelson surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run.
Paul Church, who is tied for 10th in the FA in stolen bases with 3, had a direct impact on the outcome. Church contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put New York up, 4-0.
"When I go out there," said Nelson, "the last thing I want to do is let my teammates down."
Atlanta, with the loss, is still a robust 12-5.
