| Keystones Win, 6-1, at Chicago | Philadelphia picked up a win at Whitney Park, bumping off the Chicago Chiefs, 6-1. Pitcher George Schutte was a major reason the Keystones emerged victorious. In 8.2 innings, Schutte surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Chiefs, now 44-40, have lost 5 straight.
Philadelphia used a clutch at-bat from Ken Kern to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Keystones ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We'll kick back a while," said Kern, "and then get ready for the next one."
