| Minutemen Come Up Short at Washington, 4-3 | Washington pitcher Eddie Yandow did his part in helping his team beat the Boston Minutemen, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Yandow, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Earl Frazier was credited with the save for Washington, his 2nd of the season.
Chuck Moore helped out the Washington cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the shortstop drew 2 walks in 4 trips to the plate.
"Both teams played hard," said Washington manager Joe D'Aprile.
Boston now is 3-10.
