| Reimer Tosses No-Hitter Against Toronto | Fred Reimer relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Toronto hitless in a win, 8-0, at Maumee Park II.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Beavers off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 24-year-old starter rung up 2 strikeouts and 4 walks in whipping the Beavers.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Toronto skipper Máximo Rios said.
Looking at his season stats, Reimer has won 8 and lost 7, collecting 64 strikeouts and 57 walks in 132.1 innings with a 2.86 ERA. | |
