| Saints Lose By a Run at St. Louis | Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the St. Louis Pioneers got the win.
Tony Bellomo pitched well, but the Montreal Saints still lost the game, falling, 3-2, to the St. Louis Pioneers at Pioneer Field. St. Louis starter Tom Spongberg was credited with the win after throwing 105 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 4-14.
St. Louis took a 3-2 lead on Gavvy Hubbard's 8th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Hubbard hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Montreal pitcher Dick Dean visibly frustrated.
"Winning never gets dull," said Hubbard.
Montreal, at 37-38, has lost 5 straight.
