| Chicago Downs Cincinnati, 3-0 | Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Chicago Chiefs and Cincinnati Monarchs.
Benny Crowell pitched a gem to lead Chicago to victory over the Cincinnati Monarchs, 3-0. Mike Pratt earned the save, his 15th in 18 tries.
Chicago relied on the hitting of Pat Kingsmill to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put the Chiefs on top, 1-0. For the game, Kingsmill had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Makes our job easier," said Kingsmill, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
Chicago is now 43-32, while Cincinnati is 41-33.
