Hurler Emmett Thornton gave the New York Imperials a solid start. The native of New Orleans, Louisiana helped his team defeat the Montreal Saints, 3-2, at Dyckman Stadium. Thornton, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The Saints fall to 8-10 and continue their lackluster start in 1975.

New York pinch hitter Bill Wood helped the Imperials go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Wood hit a run-scoring single off Montreal pitcher John Roberts.

"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Montreal manager Harry Barrell.
