Wolves Deal Cannons 6-2 Defeat
The Toronto Wolves got a marvelous performance from pitcher Gary Preston. The left-hander kept the Cincinnati offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 6-2 Toronto victory at Tice Memorial Stadium II. The winner was Preston. He threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Bob Briggs. The loss puts Cincinnati at 11-7.

Toronto third baseman Heinie Pearce contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the Wolves ahead, 2-0.

Preston attributed the win to his team's "tenacity."
