| Cougars Defeat Mavericks, 6-3 | Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Mavericks Stadium.
The Chicago Cougars battled the Kansas City Mavericks into extra innings before the outcome was decided. The Cougars won it, finally, 6-3, in 10 innings. In the game, Chicago left fielder Sam Morrison went 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. The loss lowers the Kansas City record to 1-2.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Cleo Harris came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Kansas City pitcher Van Taylor, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 4-3.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Cougars manager Pug Bryan.
