| Grays Get Hard-Earned Win | Robert Mitchell, who is tied for 9th in the UL in complete games with 6, pitched well, but the Pittsburgh Mechanics still fell short, losing, 3-2, to the Cleveland Grays at Cocker Park. Frank Howard notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 5-5. With the win, Cleveland upped its record to 37-35.
Chester Alexander had a direct impact on the outcome. Alexander contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the ninth inning to put Cleveland up, 3-2.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Alexander.
