| Gothams Pocket 7-2 Win Against Baltimore | Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the New York Gothams and Baltimore Clippers.
The New York Gothams defeated the Baltimore Clippers, 7-2, in Federal Association action at Gotham Stadium. New York pitcher Ray Hooley had a standout performance. In 7 innings, Hooley surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs.
George James had a big bases-clearing double for the Gothams in the bottom of the third inning. With New York leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 32-year old left-handed pitcher Mike Dunlavy and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gothams ahead, 5-0.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Hooley.
Baltimore is 9-7 after the defeat. | |
