| Stars Prevail, 7-6, Over Seattle | Seattle third baseman Jack Lucas was sensational. He was 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Los Angeles beat the Kings, 7-6. Los Angeles starter Jackie Thompson was credited with the win after throwing 120 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 7-3. Clay Buddemeyer recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 3 for 6.
Los Angeles took a 6-5 lead on Dave Black's 6th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Black hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Seattle pitcher John Howell visibly frustrated.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Seattle manager Alex Watt. "But we decided not to take it."
The defeat makes Seattle 56-28. | |
