| Boston Wins, 6-5, Over Chiefs | The Boston Minutemen besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Chicago center fielder Bob Starr by beating the Chiefs, 6-5, at Whitney Park. Starr went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Boston reliever Ken West was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Joe Rice took the loss. Augie Hicks got the save, his 3rd in 4 chances.
Jim Wise chipped in for Boston, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 3 with 2 walks.
"We all want to win," said Wise. "We all want to do our part."
