| Copperheads Rally Late to Nip Eagles | Atlanta parlayed a decent outing from starter Dutch Wright into a solid win over the Washington Eagles. The final score was 4-3. Atlanta pitcher Buddy Thomas got the win, upping his record to 8-2. Earl Frazier got the loss. Washington has now lost 4 in a row.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jay Hunter? The 28-year old center fielder Hunter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Atlanta up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
