Cougars Rally Late to Clip New York | The Chicago Cougars had to overcome a fine effort from New York pitcher Milt Lane to win, 5-4, at Dyckman Stadium. Lane went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. The win belonged to Bob Allen in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Neal Salk took the loss for New York. Earle Turner earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
Henry Watson came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Watson said.
The third-place Cougars are now 56-39, the Imperials 32-65. | |
