Dynamos Rally Late to Clip Houston
Starting pitcher Jack Williams gave the Detroit Dynamos a rock-solid effort. The Providence, Rhode Island native helped his team defeat the Houston Comets, 2-1, at Dalton Domed Stadium. Pedro Castro picked up the win in relief. Bob Young took the loss for Houston. Detroit is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 7th win in 19 games.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Harvey Van Orden came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Houston pitcher Bob Young, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Detroit on top, 2-1.

"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Williams.
