In a tight contest between the Los Angeles Suns and the St. Louis Pioneers, Jim Place was the determining factor. The Los Angeles left-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. Los Angeles, now 49-31, holds down first place in the Federal Association West.

Sam Forrester cracked a home run off Charlie Walker in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run blast put the Suns on top, 3-2. In all, Forrester had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
