Sailors Score Late, Clip Stars, 10-9
Los Angeles third baseman Ralph Barrell had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 10-9, to San Francisco at Bigsby Stadium. Barrell went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. The Sailors bumped their record to 53-42 with this win.

Had Ernie Carter not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Carter hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 10-9, in favor of the Sailors.

"We got the victory," said Carter. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
