| Mavericks Knock Off Cougars, 3-1 | The Kansas City Mavericks picked up a win at Cougars Park, topping the Chicago Cougars, 3-1. On the mound for Kansas City was right-hander Cal Newman. He played a principal role in the triumph. The 5th-place Mavericks are now 35-46, the Cougars 34-50.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Mavericks had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the sixth, when catcher Bobby Frost hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Roger Alford and made the score 2-1, Mavericks. Frost was 1-4.
Newman said his team "executed a good game plan."
