Millers Lose By a Run at Detroit
Detroit got a first-rate effort from pitcher Pat Fortier, who frustrated Minneapolis hitters en route to a 2-1 Dynamos triumph at Thompson Field. The win hiked the Detroit record to 40-39.

Detroit right fielder Pete Dance contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 66th hit of the season and put the Dynamos ahead, 2-1.

"Pat is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Detroit manager Roger Cleaves.
