| Atlanta Sent Home with 3-2 Loss | In a tight contest between the New York Gothams and the Atlanta Copperheads, Joe Nelson was the determining factor. The New York right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Nelson, now 6-8. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. Earning the save was George Libby. He's now cashed in 6 of 7 save opportunities.
New York right fielder Ed Davis helped the Gothams go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Davis hit a run-scoring single off Atlanta pitcher Jack Kotarski.
