Keystones Nipped, 5-4, by Boston
The Philadelphia Keystones could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Joe Downing into a win. Instead, the Boston Minutemen prevailed, 5-4. Downing threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Boston pitcher Bud Shireman got the win. He's now 9-3. Henry Henderson was tagged with the loss. Boston occupies second place in the Federal Association East at 43-37.

Dick Ward was the walk-off hero for Boston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Minutemen left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Enough drama for you?" winked Minutemen manager Dode Edwards after the game.
