| Keystones Come Up Short at Washington, 5-4 | The Washington Eagles knocked off the Philadelphia Keystones, 5-4, in Federal Association action at Columbia Stadium. Washington pitcher and Chicago, Illinois, native Herman White had an outstanding performance. White yielded 4 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-3. Earl Frazier was credited with the save for Washington, his 1st of the season.
Washington second baseman Carlos Zamudio helped the Eagles go up, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Zamudio hit a run-scoring single off Philadelphia pitcher Bobby Coy.
"Herman gave us a heck of an effort," said Washington manager Joe D'Aprile.
