Montreal Rallies to 9-4 Win | Montreal right fielder Harry Swain contributed significantly to his team's 9-4 win over the Toronto Wolves. Swain, who is tied for 6th in the CA in bases on balls with 70, went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Saints. The win was credited to Bob Haverhill in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Whitey Stewart took the loss. At 43-69, the Saints find themselves in 7th place in the Continental Association.
Montreal used the timely hitting of Bob Vernon to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Saints on top, 7-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Vernon. | |
