| Gothams Slap 5-1 Loss on Boston | The New York Gothams picked up a win at Minuteman Stadium, taking down the Boston Minutemen, 5-1. Starting pitcher Harry Hayward was a big reason why. Hayward, now 4-0, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. New York is now 35-41, Boston 24-48.
New York center fielder Bill Arndt contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 82nd hit of the season and put the Gothams ahead, 1-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Hayward said.
