| Arrows Rally to Nose Past San Francisco | The Milwaukee Arrows did just enough to secure a victory over the San Francisco Sailors, 4-3, in 10 innings at Golden Gate Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Tex Cavanaugh. Jim Hart earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. The Arrows, now 10-4, have played inspired baseball.
Milwaukee used the timely hitting of Earl Johnson to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Arrows on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Arrows manager Randy Hendrix. | |
