Miners Come Up Short at New York, 8-7
Behind the hitting of Tom Brizzolara, the New York Gothams stopped the Pittsburgh Miners, 8-7. Brizzolara went 1 for 2 with a double and 3 walks, while scoring 3 for the Gothams. Chet Stansbury got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 6 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 2. The victory makes New York 3-2.

Otto Pilkerton had a big run-scoring double for the Gothams in the bottom of the seventh inning. With New York leading 7-6 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Hank Griswold and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gothams ahead, 8-6.

"We found a way to get it done," Brizzolara said.
