| Imperials Squeeze By Cincinnati, 3-2 | The New York Imperials faced a tough opponent in Cincinnati pitcher Ike Hawley, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dyckman Stadium by a final score of 3-2. Hawley went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Ed Cooper snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-4 on the season. The Imperials, at 39-35, have now won 4 straight.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when New York third baseman George Love, facing Earl White, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Imperials the 3-2 win.
"This stadium was a-rockin'," said Love. | |
