| Cougars Top Sailors, 7-3 | The San Francisco Sailors and Chicago Cougars delighted fans at Cougars Park.
The Chicago Cougars picked up a win at Cougars Park, downing the San Francisco Sailors, 7-3. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Roy Ellis, who played a pivotal role in the win. The Cougars now have a record of 54-62 with the win over San Francisco.
Jerry McMillan had a big grand slam home run for the Cougars in the bottom of the second inning. With Chicago leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from George Fuller, who is tied for 9th in the CA in quality starts with 13, and swatted a home run to center. It was his 24th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cougars ahead, 7-0.
"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Chicago manager Buck Cuppett.
