Miners Sneak Past Keystones, 4-3 | The Pittsburgh Miners faced a tough opponent in Philadelphia pitcher Tom Robinson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Broad Street Park II by a final score of 4-3. Robinson went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. Pittsburgh reliever Bob Haverhill picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jim Elliott was tagged with the loss. Hank Griswold got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Rick Masters, who finished 5th in the FA in slugging percentage with .529 in 1959, aided the Pittsburgh cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 3.
