Visiting Foresters Beat Stars, 5-4 | Ralph Barrell had a good game, but he could not keep the Los Angeles Stars from falling, 5-4, to the Cleveland Foresters at Bigsby Stadium. The Los Angeles third baseman went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk in the loss. The winning pitcher was Ike Johnson. His record now stands at 7-6. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits for the Foresters. Johnny Ogden earned the save, his 13th, for the Foresters.
Cleveland used a timely hit from Tom Carr to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Foresters ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Carr.
Cleveland now sits at 48-46, while Los Angeles falls to 57-34. | |
