| Comets Stun Dynamos, 3-1 | The Houston Comets beat the Detroit Dynamos, 3-1, at Thompson Field. Starting pitcher George Roy was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The setback makes Detroit 39-37.
Johnny Adams came through with a big-time hit for Houston. The first baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Comets manager Glenn Carney. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
