| Copperheads Take Nail-Biter Over Gothams | It was pandemonium at Peachtree Stadium after an exciting walk-off win.
The Atlanta Copperheads topped the New York Gothams, 3-2, with right fielder Jack Blair playing a big role. Blair went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Copperheads in the win. Atlanta pitcher Buddy Thomas got the win. He's now 7-2. Bunny Mullins was tagged with the loss.
The Copperheads got a clutch hit from third baseman Jim Duchesne. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Copperheads.
In postgame comments, Duchesne said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
The Gothams, now 34-41, have lost 4 in a row. | |
