The Houston Comets beat the Minneapolis Millers, 5-4. Houston pitcher and West Springfield, Massachusetts, native Johnny Blackburn led the way. The loss makes Minneapolis 34-40.

Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 34-year old catcher Milt Rush had a chance to be the hero. Minneapolis pitcher Joe Pratt had other ideas. But with no outs, Rush hit a sacrifice fly. The Comets had themselves a dramatic win.

"Even warm beer tastes good after a win," said Rush.
