| Pioneers Suffer 6-2 Road Loss | Riding the 2-hit performance of the fan favorite Bob Starr, the Chicago Chiefs stopped the St. Louis Pioneers, 6-2, in 9 innings. The win was credited to Frank Carmichael in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Charlie Walker took the loss. Chicago's record now stands at 30-47, placing them 5th in the Federal Association West.
Had Andy Ellefsen not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Ellefsen hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Chiefs.
"It feels good to get this one," Ellefsen told the Chicago News. | |
