| Wolves 8-5 Victors Over Cougars | The Chicago Cougars could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Doc Cook into a win. Instead, the Toronto Wolves prevailed, 8-5. Cook came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters. The winning pitcher was Zane Kelley. His record now stands at 4-4. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits for the Wolves. Picking up the save was Whitey Stewart, his 15th.
The game was on the line with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Whitey Stewart didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Chicago trailing 7-5, Stewart retired Stan Czerwinski to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Stewart, with a wink.
Toronto's record now stands at 44-68, placing them 7th in the Continental Association.
